NEW Berkeley Board Fellows Brochure (Download in pdf)
Founded by Haas MBA students in 2003, the Berkeley Board Fellows Program is an exceptional, 9-month (October – May ) experiential learning program that primarily places graduate level Haas MBA as well as Goldman Public Policy and Public Health students as Fellows on local nonprofit boards of directors. The primary goal of the program is to develop students’ governance and leadership skills while contributing their time and talent to select nonprofit organizations. Fellows act as non-voting members of the board.
- Fellows benefit from the opportunity to learn first-hand about the rewards and challenges of board service while developing mentor relationships with members of successful boards
- Nonprofits make connections with future board members, mentor next generation leadership and benefit from students’ skills in marketing, finance, strategic planning, policy analysis and public health.
The Board Fellows program is managed by the Center for Nonprofit and Public Leadership in conjunction with the VPs of Nonprofit, Net Impact Club. The Berkeley Board Fellows program provides training, coaching and recognition of the Board Fellows. Students seeking additional preparation for board leadership should consider taking the one-unit course on Nonprofit Boards offered in the fall semester.
