Fellow Profile: Policy

Pilar Mendoza is a Program Analyst with The David and Lucile Packard Foundation's Children, Families, and Communities program. Pilar works on a range of projects including advancing high quality preschool, summer learning and afterschool opportunities for California's children and increasing access to children's health coverage nationwide. Previously, she worked as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Advancement Project, a nonprofit public policy organization, where she conducted a series of community needs assessments and helped to develop a comprehensive youth gang violence prevention strategy and for the City and County of Los Angeles. Pilar holds a Master of Public Policy degree from UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy and a BA in History from Swarthmore College.

We are delighted to be engaged in this leading edge partnership with the Foundation as it further prepares our graduates with the skills and knowledge to create social impact in the field of philanthropy and across sectors.

Fellowship Vision

The shared vision for this partnership is to strengthen the future of philanthropy by providing next generation philanthropic leaders with access to leadership and grantmaking through a broad lens of diverse issues and populations and the development of a new skill set. While working on location at the Foundation, the Fellows also have access to UC Berkeley resources including library, lecture series, special events, classes, and professional development opportunities offered through the Center.
